SpeakRelay is a dictation, speech-to-text, application that allows you relay your voice dictation to a website (https://www.speakrelay.com). Perfect to dictate emails,
personal notes, documents, etc. Just talk to your phone and the text appears in real-time in your browser. Once there you can edit the text, add images, polish the
document and convert it to a PDF or copy and paste it into your favorite word processor or email application.
Our main concern is privacy, keep in mind that we don't store anything being dictated that passes through our servers. We merely store some stats (word counts and
characters count) to provide usage reports which we share with you on our website. All traffic is encrypted using HTTP over TLS and our SSL certificate uses the most
recent SHA-256 hashing algorithm.
This application uses the power of cloud based speech-to-text engines and relays the text using push streaming technologies to your browser. We use server-sent events
(EventSource) to relay the messages from NGINX, thus achieving exceptional performance and higher compatibility over WebSockets which is great for 2-way real-time
communication but in our case we only need to push from the server to the client. We also support WebSockets and long polling as fallback mechanisms in case EventSource is
not supported in your browser.
The project started as a technology demo in early 2014 and by popular demand it was turned into an app.
